The third concert of the ÒClaricello and FriendsÓ Concert Series won't be short of drama! Taking place on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 3pm, ÒThe Muses' Workshop: Stories for a New EraÓ blurs the lines of music and theatre with a variety of engaging chamber music works. Each piece tells a story in its own way; one moment a narrator takes you on a journey with three little clouds, while the next musically captures the emotions of the world after September 11 th . All of the works presented blend classical music with other artistic influences from dance and theatre to other musical genres such as jazz and popular music. The concert features performances by Claricello members Lara Turner, cello and Jason Gresl, clarinet and bass clarinet; as well as Scott Russell, horn; Aleksandra Kemble, flute; Leila Tascheck and Jae Sung Lee, violin; Carol Bullock Russell, cello; and Cory Miller, percussion. Colorado dancer/choreographer Naomi Pressman makes her South Bend debut premiering a new dance based on composer Michael Lowenstern's But Would She Remember You?. Other featured composers include Martin Wesley-Smith, Bill Douglas, Margaret Brouwer, Belinda Reynolds, Sean Brady, and Mark Summer, cellist for the Turtle Island String Quartet. The concert is sponsored by the Saint Mary's College Department of Music and will be held in the Little Theatre, Moreau Center for the Arts on campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
